Named for a them main character of an ancient Japanese folktale, Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. Kaguya-hime was discovered as a baby inside the stalk of a glowing bamboo plant. She is said to be from Tsuki-no-Miyako, "The Capital of the Moon" and has unusual hair that "shines like gold".
425 yards of fingering/sock weight, machine washable goodness, plenty for a pair of comfy durable socks.
This yarn is wholly imported form England. For socks, I would knit on US#1-2. 60% Merino/ 40% Bamboo - completely machine washable.
Bamboo has unique antibacterial, deodorant, coloration, elasticity, drapability, and wearability characteristics. Notable are also moisture absorption and ventilation. Because of its special structure and natural "hollowness" in the horizontal cross sections, the abundant gaps in the fiber can absorb and evaporate the moisture of human skin instantly.
